The courtyard
The courtyard is the heart of the property, a charming space where you’ll gather for meals under the shade of the trees, relax with a book by the moat, and breathe in the fragrant wisteria that climbs the walls of the outbuildings. The courtyard features two lawned areas, separated by paths of limestone gravel, all enclosed by walls, buildings, gates, and the surrounding moat. The courtyard is in an elevated position meaning no noise from the quiet country lane at the end of the drive and when the gates are shut, there’s no access to the drive leading to the country road.
A large dining table that seats 14 guests serves as the perfect spot for enjoying breakfast, lunch and dinner al fresco. Conveniently located near the dining table is a smaller table under the kitchen window, ideal for passing food, glasses, and plates outside. A barbecue allows you to prepare delicious outdoor meals.
For more relaxed moments, a lounge area is set up under another mature tree in the courtyard, where you can recline and admire the elegant architecture and the symmetry of the buildings.
On the east side of the château, Fatboy hammocks are under the trees near the moat, offering a tranquil spot to take in the expansive views. You’ll also find herb gardens to enhance your cooking. On the other side is a pétanque court for the truly French experience.
The games room and gym
Stretching along the west side of the courtyard is a converted coach house with polished concrete floors that houses the atelier in one corner, the gym in the middle and the games room on the other end. All have WiFi.
The atelier is the studio apartment that serves as the 7th bedroom. The games room is equipped with a table tennis table, a dart board and table football table. Outside there are football goals, a pétanque court and a go-kart for your entertainment.
Between the atelier and the games room is a serious gym equipped with Pelaton bike, Concept 2 PM5 rowing machine, Bodycraft Jones Smith Max Rack and bench, a range of dumbells, Fitbounce Pro gym trampoline, aerobic step, gym balls, matts and even mirrored walls for dance practice! The gym also includes a separate shower, sink, and toilet for your convenience.
The swimming pool
The pool area is fully enclosed by a fence for security and accessed through a door in the pool house. In the pool house you’ll find a shower, toilet and sink and a covered lounge area where you can relax out of the sun where there’s also a fridge. There is WiFi at the pool too.
The large, heated pool, measuring 14 x 5 metres, is perfect for swimming lengths, playing games and or simply floating about on an inflatable. The pool is open and heated from April to October.
Sun loungers and parasols are lined up along the pool, offering verdant views over the surrounding fields and woods. There are also tables and chairs for you to sit at, either in the sun or in the shade. There is a football goal, cricket stumps and a badminton net in the enclosed area. It’s a wonderful space where your friends and family will relax and unwind together during your stay.
